The back rings of Freudenberg Sealing Technologies supplement and back up the O-ring. They act as a supporting element to prevent gap extrusion in radially sealing ISC O-rings. By expanding the use of O-rings to various shapes, back seals protect O-rings against damage.

Back Rings from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies offer a high level of protection against damage

Back Rings from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies offer an exceptionally high level of protection against damage. Back Rings themselves have no sealing function, but are generally used in combination with the O-Ring. For example, to avoid gap extrusion of radially sealing ISC O-Rings by providing an extremely reliable reduction in the sealing gap on the low-pressure side. Back Rings are frequently used in hydraulics, for example in hydraulic valves and hydraulic pumps. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies Back Rings also provide exceptionally reliable sealing of ball valves or cylinder bases and heads, as required in general industrial applications.

Back Rings for use with O-Rings

Back Rings from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies are the ideal addition for use with the highly versatile O-Ring. They are used as a kind of backup. Back Rings ensure that an O-Ring maintains its round shape even at high pressures and thus withstands even high compressive loads without being damaged. This is achieved by mounting the Back Rings behind the O-Ring on the low pressure side under a one-sided compressive load. In situations with changing pressure directions, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies recommends the use of two Back Rings, used on both sides of the O-Ring.

Back Rings with assured quality

As with all of its products, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies also relies on the highest quality, durability and the best materials for the Back Rings. Most Back Rings are made from PTFE and can therefore easily withstand extreme temperatures of -200°C to 260°C. In addition, there are elastomer Back Rings that can be stretched and therefore easily mounted in installation grooves.
